Food Pantry

This is no ordinary food pantry. Since 1996, our pantry has been an alternative to the traditional pantry structure. Heartside residents are able to select the food they want in the quantities they need.

In our unique neighborhood, it is no surprise that there's not enough money to make it through the month. Food Pantry Partners encourages the civic responsibility of volunteerism, the necessity of planning, and the dignity of choice.

Food Pantry Partners is the recipient of many food drives, which are very helpful, but thanks to the local food bank and the Waste Not Want Not movement, the bulk of our food comes from Second Harvest Gleaners Food Bank, where we can purchase food at the price of delivery, just $0.15/lb. This allows us to purchase much more food than we could get from traditional food drives, and also allows pantry members to order the food themselves. This allows recipients of food to have a hand in determining the selection they will be offered.
